Balancing Blood Sugar
Are you sleepy and tired a lot? Do you have poor energy throughout the day?
It could be worth taking a look at what you’re eating for breakfast! Funny story, I used to be soooooo sleepy alllllll the time. I’d fall asleep everywhere: during movies, in the car, in my 8 am class, at church, etc. EVERYWHERE.
That is, until I started practicing some healthier habits!! One of which is balancing my blood sugar by eating less refined carbohydrates & replacing them with foods higher in protein, along with more veggies. Tackling breakfast is a good place to start.
For example, instead of waking up & inundating your body with lots of sugar (cereals, breads, fruit juices, smoothies, many packaged yogurts, muffins, donuts, pastries etc etc!!) I switch those out for higher protein foods with veggies (beans, legumes, eggs, meats, etc). You gotta look at the nutrition labels for SUGAR!! If you’re eating a ton of sugar but not using it (ie endurance exercise) then it will spike your blood sugar and ultimately make you crash. And then you feel tired & groggy.
My recommendation if you feel this way is to re-vamp breakfast! It might change your whole day. Reach out if you need help or have questions!
